Indian Baseball Wraps Up Regular Season With Win

The Stephens County Indian baseball team will now prepare for the first round of the state AAAA baseball playoffs later this week.

Stephens County wrapped up the regular season Friday with a 13-1, five-inning win over the Johnson Knights at the Reservation.

Seven different players had RBIs for the Indians.

They were led by Matthew Henson, who crushed a three-run home run in the second inning.

Logan Bell hit another home run against Johnson as well. It was Bell’s 9th of the year and fifth in three games.

As a team, Stephens County piled up 16 hits.

Johnson scored its lone run in the fourth inning off of starter Tristan Powell. Davis McCall closed out the game for Stephens County by pitching a scoreless fifth inning.

Stephens County ends its regular season with an 18-7 overall record and a region record of 11-5.

Next up for the Indians is the first round of the state playoffs. That gets underway Friday.
