Indian Football Home Opener Tonight

The Stephens County High School football team takes the field at home for the first time this season.

It is the home opener tonight at the Reservation in Toccoa as the Indians host the Flowery Branch Falcons in a non-region contest.

Stephens County enters the game 1-1 on the season.

Last week, Rabun County scored two fourth-quarter touchdowns to beat the Indians 24-10 in Tiger.

Meanwhile, Flowery Branch is also 1-1 on the season after beating Chestatee last week, 41-13.

Indians’ Assistant Head Coach and Offensive Line Coach Roger Gentry said it is great to finally be home after starting the season on the road.

“We expect a big crowd and our kids are excited about being back home,” said Gentry. “The atmosphere is unbelievable. The kids have already been talking about it.”

Gentry said they feel like they have a good gameplan to take on Flowery Branch and match up with them well.

Kick-off from the Reservation in Toccoa is set for 7:30 p.m.

Coverage on the new 93.1 FM and AM 630 WNEG starts at 5:30 p.m. with the Indian Tailgate Show. Coach’s Corner starts at 7 p.m. and pre-game coverage kicks off at 7:15 p.m.
