Indian Wrestlers Back From State Meet

Two Stephens County High School wrestlers place in the top six at states.

Last weekend, the Indians sent four wrestlers to Macon for the state AAAA Wrestling Championships.

Leading the way for Stephens County was Corey Kindel, who brought home a fifth place finish at 152 pounds and Gavin Walker, who finished sixth place at 195 pounds.

Also representing Stephens County in the state meet and finishing in the top 12 were Nikko Beady at 132 pounds and Jay Stowe at 145 pounds.

Stephens County finished tied for 22nd place as a team with 25 points.

Indians’ Head Wrestling Coach Rob Stowe said it was a great run by the team, all in all.

He said it is gratifying to see four wrestlers finish in the top 12, but adds the team’s goal is to continue to get better.

Stowe also thanked his assistant coaches for their help this season.
