Indians Baseball Hold Banquet

The Stephens County High School Baseball team held the team banquet on Monday evening.

Indians Head Coach Greg McCall says it is a great opportunity to celebrate the season “It’s just to recognize these young men and all the work they put down throughout the year. A lot of hard work and preparation and this is an opportunity for the parents to come and spend time with their young men.”

Individual awards were presented for both the Varsity and Junior Varsity. Varsity winners included:

Team MVP- Austin Page
Best Overall Pitcher- Davis Swenson
Hustle Award- Kole Rogers
Mr. Versatility-Dawson Sorrells
Best Defense-Dawson Dean
Coach’s Award-Aaron Chappalear, and Zach Boyd
Scholar Athlete Award-Dawson Dean (Dean also received recognition for all-region 8 Academic team)
Team Captain Awards- Page, Rogers, and Bryson Fowler

JV Winners included:

Rising Indian- Isaiah Martin
Scholar Athlete-Seth Jameson

Eight Indians were named to the Region-8 All Region team. Page, Swenson, Fowler, and Sorrells were named to the 1st team, and Rogers, Boyd, Chaz Bridges, and Gabe White were named to the 2nd team.

The Indian baseball team finished the season at 21-11 overall and was ranked in the AAAA top 10 throughout the season. The Indians will lose eight seniors, but McCall says future expectations will still be with the program “Eight seniors moving on, tremendous baseball players, but I truly expect those juniors and some of those sophomores to step right in and keep rolling. 42 wins in a two year period is tremedous, but I expect twenty wins again.”

The eight Indian seniors were presented with framed individual action pictures.
