Indians basketball results in 2 wins, 1 loss

The Stephens County Indians basketball team picked up their first Region 8-AAAA win of the season last (Tues) night by defeating Madison County, 68 to 54, in Danielsville.

The Indians built up a 14 point lead early in the fourth period, but Madison County came back to cut it to 8 points with 1:26 to go in the game.

But Stephens County got some fast break points to pull away for the 14 point victory.

The Indians were led by Montavis Thornton with 25 points and De’Undra Singleton with 18.

Stephens County improves to 13 & 5 overall and 1 and 2 in the region.

In girls action, Stephens County got off to a slow start and could not recover as they lost to 10th ranked Madison County, 68 to 40.

Tykia Thompson led the Lady Indians with 10 points and Anaiah Wilson with 9.  Stephens County drops to 8 & 9 overall and 1 & 2 in the region.

In J-V boys basketball, Stephens County defeated Madison County in overtime, 52 to 48.

The Indians and Lady Indians return to action this Friday night as they host North Oconee at the Currahee Arena.
