Indians Drop 4th Straight

Things continue to go South for the Stephens County Indians.

The Indians entered last week riding high with a 17-1 record and ranked as high as number 3 in the state. Since then, the Indians have dropped four straight games and have scored a total of two runs.

Monday night was the worst defeat yet. Madison County scored six runs in the 6th inning to break open a 2-0 game and defeated the Indians 8-0 at the Reservation.

Madison County pitcher and Mercer University bound Holton McGaha limited the Indians to just 5 hits and struck out 10 to pick up the win. Joe Lukas had three RBI’s to lead the Red Raider offense.

Davis Swenson got the loss for the Indians to fall to 5-2 on the season.

Stephens County falls to 3-4 in Region-8 AAAA play and 17-5 overall. Madison County improves to 4-3 in the Region and 11-9 overall.

Elsewhere in Region-8, North Oconee defeated St. Pius 11-10, and Jefferson downed Oconee County 7-1.

The current region standings have Jefferson at 6-1, North Oconee, St. Pius, and Madison County all 4-3, Stephens County at 3-4, and Oconee County at 0-7.

Stephens County will travel to Madison County on Wednesday. Airtime is scheduled for 5:45 P.M. with first pitch at 5:55 P.M. on WNEG.
