Indians Fall to Titans

Junior Chaz Bridges came out on the short end of a pitcher’s duel Monday night as the Stephens County Indians baseball team dropped a 2-1 decision to the North Oconee Titans.

Bridges battled junior Kumar Rocker toe to toe throughout the game, but Rocker limited the Indians to just two hits and struck out nine.  Bridges allowed just five hits and struck out five in the loss.

North Oconee loaded the bases in the third inning and scored on a wild pitch. The Titans’ second run came in the top of the seventh on an RBI double by Brian Mauldin. Stephens County scored their lone run in the bottom of the seventh on a ground out by Bryson Fowler.

Stephens County is now 13-12 overall and 3-7 in region 8-AAAA play. The Titans are 11-10 and 5-5 in the region.  The two teams play again Wednesday in Bogart.

Game time is 5:55 p.m. and air time on WNEG will be 5:45 p.m.
