Indians Move to 4-0 in Region 8-AAAA

The Stephens County Indians remain unbeaten in Region 8-AAAA football play.

Friday at the Reservation, Stephens County used 20 second quarter points to jump out on the way to a 40-21 win over Chestatee.

Stephens County got on the board first with a 17-yard touchdown run by Jackson Bell to make it 6-0.

Chestatee took its only lead at 7-6 late in the first quarter when Storm Yarborough connected with Jay Mays on an 84-yard touchdown pass.

However, the lead lasted only seconds as Jermaine Barnett returned the ensuing kickoff 97 yards to put the Indians ahead by a 14-7 score after the two-point conversion.

The Indians then got a one-yard Hassan Brown touchdown run and two Jackson Bell touchdown passes, one for 27 yards to A.J. Howard and the other for 18 yards to Donovan Curry, to extend their lead to 34-7 at halftime.

Coming out in the third quarter, Bell’s third touchdown pass, a 22-yarder to Donovan Curry, made it 40-7 in favor of Stephens County.

Chestatee scored late in the third quarter on a 3-yard touchdown run from Jay Mays to make it 40-14.

The War Eagles scored the final touchdown on a 36-yard run from Storm Yarborough.

Jackson Bell finished the game with about 170 yards passing and three touchdowns, along with a rushing touchdown.

Yarborough had about 130 yards passing and nearly 90 yards rushing for the War Eagles.

With the win, Stephens County advances to 6-1 overall on the season and a perfect 4-0 in Region 8-AAAA.

Chestatee drops to 0-7 overall and 0-4 in the region.

Next up for the Indians is another home game this coming Friday night against Madison County.
