Indians Pick Up Huge Road Win

Stephens County’s Austin Page went 5 for 5 at the plate, and the Indians had their most prolific hitting game of the year and picked up an important road Region win defeating Madison County 10-8 Wednesday night in Danielsville.

Stephens County banged out 17 hits in the game. Zach Boyd and Bryson Fowler had three hits each. The Indians got two RBI’s each from Page and Fowler, and RBI’s from Boyd, Dawson Sorrells, Chaz Bridges, Ben Hobbs, Dawson Dean, and Griff Pruitt.

In his first start of the season, Fowler pitched 4 innings allowing 5 runs, 4 earned, striking out 3, and walking 2 to get the win and move to 2-0 on the season. Sorrells pitched 3 innings of relief to get the save, allowing 3 runs, 1 earned, striking out 4, and walking 2.

The Indians chased Madison County starter Josh Cotton who got the loss. Cotton only lasted an inning and a third, allowing 7 runs and 9 hits. Garrett Dowell pitched the rest of the way allowing 3 runs on 8 hits.

With the win, the Indians break a 4 game skid and pull even with Madison County at 4-4 in Region-8 AAAA play. Stephens County moves to 18-5 overall. Madison County falls to 11-10.

The two teams will meet in an important rubber match with the series deciding game on Friday at the Reservation. Airtime is set for 5:45 P.M. with first pitch at 5:55 P.M. here on WNEG.
