Indians Roll-Take Down Red Raiders

Isiah Martin hit two home runs and had 5 RBI’s, and Kole Rogers had 3 hits and 4 RBI’s to lead Stephens County to a come from behind win over Madison County 13-6 Friday night at the Reservation.

Rogers and Martin, batting 8th and 9th in the lineup led the offensive attack as the Indians banged out 14 hits in the game. The Indians grabbed the lead early 2-0 when hot-hitting Austin Page led the game with a double and was followed by three more hits in the inning.

Madison County scored 5 runs in the top of the 2nd inning on only one hit, but taking advantage of 5 walks and 2 Indian errors.

Stephens County came back with two more runs in the bottom of the 2nd and trailed 5-4 with two out in the 5th when Rogers delivered a two out-two strike double, followed by a Martin two-run home run.

The Indians blew the game open in the 6th inning scoring 5 runs on 4 hits including a two-run single by Rogers, and three-run home run by Martin.

The Indians also got RBI’s in the game by Page, who had 3 more hits in the game, Chaz Bridges, and Zach Boyd. Rogers and Martin scored three runs each, Ben Hobbs scored twice, and Page, Dawson Sorrells, Dawson Dean, Cole Snyder, and Eli Wenger crossed the plate.

Gabe White, in relief of Bridges who started the game, got the win for the Indians going 4 innings, and allowing one run on one hit, and striking out 4. The Red Raiders Grant Miller got the loss.

With the win, the Indians take two out of three from Madison County and improve to 5-4 in Region-8 AAAA play and 19-5 overall. Madison County falls to 4-5 in the region and 11-11 overall.

Other games in Region-8 Friday night include Oconee County winning their first Region game knocking off Region leader Jefferson 10-9, and North Oconee defeated St. Pius 10-6.

The Region standings now have Jefferson in first at 7-2, a three-way tie for 2nd with Stephens County, North Oconee, and St. Pius all 5-4, Madison County at 4-5, and Oconee County 1-8.

Stephens County will travel to North Oconee to start a three game series Monday night. Airtime is set for 5:45 P.M. with first pitch at 5:55 P.M. on WNEG.
