Indians Sweep Twin Bill

The Stephens County Indians baseball team swept a three team doubleheader on Saturday with wins over White County and host Habersham Central.

In game one, Cole Beitzel’s three-run homerun in the top of the first inning capped off a four run first inning and the Indians rolled to an 11-0, five-inning victory over White County.

The Indians added four more runs in the third inning, and three more in the top of the 5th that included a two-run homer by Kooper Briley.

In game two, Stephens County scored four runs in the top of the first to chase Habersham Central starter Shandon Lee, but had to come from behind to defeat the Raiders, 8-6.

Habersham Central scored all six of their runs in the 4th inning. Trailing 4-0, the Raiders batted around in the 4th on 4 hits, an error, walk, and 2 hit by pitches.

Chaz Bridges pitched three strong innings and after struggling in the 4th was relieved by Dawson Sorrells who got the win to go 3-0 this season.
