IRS Offering Tax Tips for After April 18

Tax day has come and gone for most people, but dealings with taxes may not be over yet.

First, the IRS said that for those who failed to file a 2015 tax return by the April 18 deadline, file something as soon as possible to reduce the penalties and interest that might be accrued.

Also, the IRS said that those who owe money and cannot pay it all should set up an installment agreement with the agency by going to irs.gov or calling 1-800-829-1040.

IRS officials also said that people need to watch out for scams even after the end of tax season, as the agency explains that it has seen a surge of these phone scams in recent months as scam artists threaten people.

According to officials, anyone who encounters a tax problems should contact the IRS immediately because waiting can cost someone time and money.

Finally, the IRS said people should make sure they have a good record keeping system in place now to make next year’s tax season easier.
