Joint Commission Makes Normal Return Visit for Hospital Re-accreditation

Stephens County Hospital gets the final “OK” from the Joint Commission on a three-year re-accreditation.

Hospital officials told the Stephens County Hospital Authority on Monday at its regular monthly meeting that the accreditation team from the Joint Commission recently made its expected return visit.

The Joint Commission made an initial visit in June and found a couple of minor things that the hospital was asked to change.

Stephens County Hospital Administrator Lynne Anderson said the return visit showed that all of those things had been successfully taken care of and addressed.

“All of those items have been addressed and handled,” said Anderson. “Actually, most of those had been addressed and handled when they were here a couple of weeks, but they just like to make sure that what you do has stayed in effect.”

Anderson went on to say she is very pleased with how Stephens County Hospital handled the Joint Commission process.

“They did a lot of work,” said Anderson.

Joint Commission accreditation is a process that Stephens County Hospital goes through every three years.

Prior to this year, the last time the hospital went through Joint Commission accreditation was in September 2013.

Based out of Chicago, the Joint Commission accredits most of the hospitals in the United States, as well as certifying hospitals in other parts of the world.
