Lady Indians Defeat Madison

In high school softball, the Stephens County Lady Indians defeated Madison County 2-1 in extra innings on Tuesday thanks to a walk-off single from freshmen Jasmine Lowery. With the game tied at one and Stephens County batting in the bottom of the eighth inning, Jasmine Lowery singled driving in the winning run.

The pitching was strong, as Emma Whitfield struck out 11 in a complete game for the Lady Indians.

Stephens County captured the lead in the first inning when Alanna Dunson had a two-out single to drive in a run.  In the top of the fourth inning, Madison County tied the game at one. 

The Lady Indians collected eight hits led by Alanna Dunson with 3 and Mackenzie Rogers with 2.  Stephens County’s record improves to 12-4 overall and 5-2 in Region 8-AAAA.  The Lady Indians are back in action Thursday as they host St. Pius—game time will be at 5:30pm.
