Lady Indians Lose to Oconee

Thursday’s game against Oconee County was a heartbreaker for the Stephens County Lady Indians Softball Team, as they lost the lead late in a 3-1 defeat.  The game was tied at one with Oconee County batting in the top of the seventh inning when Oconee’s Lauren Murphy doubled off of Stephens County’s Emma Whitfield, driving in two runs.

The pitching was strong for the Lady Indians as Whitfield struck out eight batters.

Oconee County captured the early lead in the second inning with a solo homerun.  But Stephens County evened things up in the bottom of the second inning when Kataryna Fuller drove in one run with a double.

The Lady Indians drop to 10 & 4 overall and 3 & 2 in region play.  They’ll host North Oconee Monday in a region contest—JV plays at 4:30pm with the Varsity game at 5:55pm.
