Lavonia Holds Night Out Against Crime

By Buddy Hardigree, WLHR Radio, Lavonia

A great crowd turned out for Lavonia’s Night Out Against Crime Thursday night.

There were inflatables and rides for the kids, hot dogs and sodas for everybody, and a chance to see some equipment like a fire truck, ambulance and a life flight helicopter up close.

Also, it was a chance to talk to firemen, EMT’s and police officers.

Lavonia Police Chief Bruce Carlisle said he was well pleased with the turn out.

He said this is the 15th year they have been doing Lavonia’s Night Out Against Crime.

According to Carlisle, it is just their way of giving back to the community and showing their appreciation for everything they do to help them, because police cannot do what they do without the public’s help.

Carlisle added that something new this year was some special guests in attendance, including State Representative Alan Powell and a representative from 9th District U.S. Representative Doug Collins’ office.

The event was well attended and well received by the residents of Lavonia.
