Lavonia Man to Continue Serving Sentence for Child Molestation

A Lavonia man will continue to serve his prison sentence after the Georgia Court of Appeals upheld his conviction on child molestation charges in Stephens County.

Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney George Christian announced Wednesday that 37-year-old Jeremy Matthew Peppers lost his appeal at the state level.

In 2009, a Stephens County jury convicted Peppers of molesting a child under the age of 16 in May of 2007.

He received the maximum sentence of 20 years in prison

In their ruling, the Court of Appeals said they found no errors committed during Peppers’ trial.

Additionally, the Court said the trial court properly allowed the jury to  hear evidence of other similar crimes where Peppers had previously molested three other children under the age of 16.

Peppers is serving his sentence in Central State Prison in Macon, Georgia.
