Local Representatives Win at Keep Georgia Beautiful Awards

Toccoa and Stephens County win awards from Keep Georgia Beautiful for local efforts in cleaning up the community.

The awards were presented at the annual Keep Georgia Beautiful Awards Luncheon, which took place earlier this month.

Keep Toccoa-Stephens County Beautiful submitted the city and county for the awards.

According to KTSCB Executive Director Linda Scofield, the local community came away with a pair of awards.

She said that Gail Fry won the Elected Official of the Year Award and that Stephens County won a Distinguished Service Award for Community Greening and Improvement.

Scofield said it is an honor to see Toccoa and Stephens County recognized.

She said Keep Toccoa-Stephens County Beautiful appreciates the support of the city and county governments.

“We are working as a team to make our community better,” said Scofield. “You can see it for yourself with all the things going on.”

Keep Georgia Beautiful says its awards program honors those whose ongoing efforts in community improvement, waste reduction, and/or litter prevention exemplify leadership in protecting Georgia’s environment.
