The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office said one person was arrested after what authorities called a three-county crime spree.

Last Wednesday at about 10 p.m., agents of the North Georgia Drug Task Force and Franklin and Hart County Sheriff’s Office deputies were attempting to serve an outstanding felony warrant for an individual in Franklin Springs.

Franklin County Sheriff Stevie Thomas said the officers initially had no contact with the wanted individual.

Thomas said the officers remained in the area and observed a male matching the description of the subject with warrants accompanied by a female walk across Highway 29 in front of the Franklin Inn.

According to Thomas, the officers attempted to make contact with the male, who then fled on foot from the deputies.

He said the subject fled into a wooded area behind the Franklin Inn into the Silver Circle area, where deputies located the subject behind a residence.

Thomas said when the deputies gave him verbal commands to get on the ground, the offender refused to comply and resisted the deputies’ efforts to take him into custody, but the suspect was finally taken into custody after a brief struggle with the deputies.

He went on to say Royston Police units responded and also assisted in the apprehension.

According to Thomas, the suspect was identified as Derrick Teasley, who is wanted in connection with a home invasion in Elbert County and also has outstanding charges in Hart County for theft by receiving and fleeing.

In addition to those charges, he was also charged with obstruction relating to the foot pursuit and resisting arrest in Franklin County.
