The family of a man missing from his Greenville home believes he might be in the Northeast Georgia area.

76-year old Dale Hunter of Greenville suffers from severe dementia.

Hunter’s family say he went missing from his home on April 5th and has not been seen since.

Now WNEG News has learned the family believes Hunter may be trying to get back to his childhood home in Toccoa.

Hunter is described as a white male, 5’11” tall, weighing approximately 160lbs with white hair.

In addition to dementia, the family says Hunter also has severe hearing loss.

When last seen on the morning of April 5th, Hunter was wearing a blue shirt, blue jeans and a green bathrobe.

Authorities in Greenville said Hunter had left home to take a walk and disappeared.

The Greenville Sheriff’s office reports that since April 5, 172 searchers from various agencies have taken part in the effort to find Hunter in and around the Paris Mountain area where he lived.

The family is offering a $10,000 reward to anyone with information that will lead to his safe return.

Family members told Greenville TV stations they think he may have been picked up by someone possibly in an effort to get to either Anderson where he once lived or to Toccoa.

The family also has a home on Hartwell Lake but they say so far, he has not been seen there.

Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley and Toccoa Police tell WNEG News they have not been contacted by Greenville authorities nor Hunter’s family regarding the search for him.

Last week, authorities gave up searching for Hunter in the area around his Altamont Road home, but the Sheriff’s office said the case is still active and the search is ongoing as information comes in.

Anyone with information on Hunter’s whereabouts is asked to contact your local 911.
