Motorcycle Chase through Downtown Toccoa Ends with Crash in South Carolina

A pursuit Tuesday morning involving a motorcyle ended with a head-on collision resulting in serious injuries to the rider.

According to Georgia State Patrol, at 7:30  a.m., a trooper checked a black motorcycle speeding on State Route 17.

The trooper attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the motorcycle, but the driver did not stop and a pursuit was initiated.

The pursuit went into Toccoa on Big A Road and then eventually onto SR 123.  The motorcycle fled into South Carolina and eventually crashed head on with a passenger car while fleeing on the wrong side of the road on Highway 76/123 in Seneca, SC.

The motorcyclist, Anthony Wade Turner, 23, of Wellford, SC, was seriously injured and taken to Greenville Hospital.

The driver of the car involved in the accident, Adrian James Potter, 61, was in his proper lane of travel in the westbound lanes and Turner was traveling eastward in the westbound lanes.

Multiple charges are pending.  Turner will be extradited back when released from the hospital.
