No Injuries From Icy Roads Tuesday Morning

Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley says that there were no serious injuries on the highways Tuesday morning after a rash of traffic incidents due to icy conditions.

Shirley says that his office responded to three accidents and seven reports of cars running off of the road, but again, did not have any serious injuries as a result.

Monday evening and overnight into Tuesday, downtown Toccoa received just under half an inch of rain.

That left wet roads that authorities say were not frozen during the early morning hours.

However, as the early morning progressed and turned into rush hour, authorities say bridges began to freeze and then quickly, icy areas developed all over the county during the 6 and 7 a.m. hours.

Temperatures did rise throughout the day and warmer weather is expected this week.
