Northeast GA Animal Shelter Re-Opens After Parvo Quarantine

The Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter in Lavonia is now open to the public for dogs after a quarantine due to parvo.

Shelter Director Tammie Jordanias said the shelter has now been approved to reopen to the public for dog intake and adoptions.

“We’ve had a rough year this year,” said Jordanias. “We’ve entered a lot of animals and with that, you get sicknesses and things like that. Right now, our parvo quarantine for the dogs has been lifted. We’re open to intake dogs right now, we just please beg the public to call and make appointments just because we still want to save every life possible.”

However, the quarantine for felines at the shelter is still in effect.

“Our cat quarantine is still not lifted yet,” said Jordanais. “The cats are still doing OK, but we are still under quarantine for them until July 19. We know a lot of people are holding cats and kittens and wanting to use the Hart EMC Grant to spay the mom cats, so we just ask to please be patient.”

Jordanias adds that due to the back to back quarantines, the shelter has a greater need for help from the public at this time.

The wish list for the shelter supplies and needs includes kitten and puppy food, paper towels, bleach and much more. For a complete list, visit the Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter’s Facebook Page.
