One Arrested in Oak Valley Rd. Burglary

The Stephens County Sheriff’s Office said one person faces charges in connection to an April burglary.

According to Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley, it occurred on Oak Valley Road back on April 29.

Shirley said that someone entered a residence on Oak Valley Road and stole six rifles, ammunition, and a laptop computer, all totaling more than $7,000 in value.

The sheriff said that investigators worked the case for more than a month before getting a break.

“They were able to locate two guns in Franklin County at the pawn shops,” said Shirley. “As a result of those recoveries of those guns that were positively identified by serial numbers.”

Shirley said that led authorities to arresting 24-year-old Samantha Chastain of Lavonia.

He said that Chastain cooperated with authorities after her arrest.

“They subsequently issued a search warrant in Franklin County for her residence and were able to recover the rest of the stolen firearms that matched up with the serial numbers that were reported when the guns were stolen,” said Shirley. “We were able to recover everything in the burglary.”

Chastain has been charged with Burglary and False Statements.
