One Week Left In Early Voting

Time is running out for early voting in the municipal elections taking place in Toccoa and Martin.

The last day to vote early is Friday.

Early voting for both Toccoa’s and Martin’s municipal elections is taking place on the ground floor of the Stephens County Government Building in downtown Toccoa.

Hours for early voting are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today through Friday.

This is also the last week to request a paper, mail-in absentee ballot for either Toccoa’s or Martin’s municipal election.

To request a paper, mail-in absentee ballot, voters should contact the Stephens County Registrar and Probate Court’s Office.

That office is located in the ground floor of the Stephens County Government Building in downtown Toccoa.

Voters can also contact the Registrar’s Office at 706-886-8954.

Any registered voter in Toccoa or Martin may request a paper ballot to vote in the election.

Election officials note that elderly or disabled voters that have requested a paper absentee ballot in previous elections must file a new request in this election in order to vote via the paper, mail-in ballot.

This Friday is the last day election officials can mail out a paper ballot.

All paper absentee ballots must be returned to the Registrar and Probate Court’s Office by 7 p.m. on Election Night, November 3.

Those who do not vote early or request a paper ballot to mail in will have to vote on Election Day, which is next Tuesday, November 3.

Voters in Toccoa are casting ballots in a referendum on whether to allow Sunday sales of alcohol by the drink for on-site consumption.

Meanwhile, Martin voters are selecting two council members.

It is a three-person race as incumbents Harold Alexander and Mark Gearhart are running, as is challenger Diane Yow Cole.
