Public to decide on Sunday Alcohol Sales inside City of Toccoa

City of Toccoa residents will decide if they want Sunday Alcohol Sales within city limits.

During a Special Called meeting yesterday morning, the city commission approved a referendum which would place the question on the ballot for the forthcoming election in May.

Following, last week’s County Board of Commissioners’ decision to allow the citizens to vote for Sunday Alcohol Sales, this would allow everything to be uniform.

If approved, by the residents, then stores would be able to sell beer and wine from 12:30 p.m. until 11:30 p.m.

Vice Mayor Gail Fry asked if there would be an additional licensing fee for those businesses that chose to make Sunday sales; which, City Attorney John Dickerson recommended the commission consider licensing fees after the citizens of Toccoa decide what they want.

A motion was made by Fry, and a seconded by Commissioner Terry Carter.

The motion carried 4-0, with Commissioner Jeanette Jamieson being absent.
