Rabies Clinic in Lavonia Saturday

The Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter in Lavonia will be holding their fall rabies clinic this week.

According to Shelter Manager Tammi Jourdenais, the clinic will be held Saturday, October 22nd.

“It’s going to be Saturday, October the 22nd from 10 til 2. we will be doing 1 year rabies, 3 year rabies, distemper, parvo, feline cat vaccines and we will also be micro chipping.” Jourdenais said.

A one-year rabies vaccine will be $5 for dogs and cats, a three-year will be $10.

Jourdenais noted, however, that in order for a pet to receive a three-year rabies vaccine, they must have had a one year vaccination last year.

Distemper shots for dogs and cats will be $7 each and Jourdenais said they will also be vaccinating horses for rabies as well at a cost of $15, adding there is plenty of room on the shelter grounds for horse trailers.

This is the second rabies clinic of the year for the shelter, which is also part of the shelter’s fund raising efforts.

The first clinic was last spring and Jourdenais said it was very successful.

Again, the rabies clinic is Saturday at the Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter on Bear Creek Road in Lavonia from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

You do not have to be a resident of Franklin County to take advantage of the low-cost rabies clinic, but Jourdenais reminded pet owners to make sure cats are in a secure carrier and dogs are on a leash when they come to the clinic.
