Rabun Authorities Announce Drug Arrest

Authorities in Rabun County said that a deputy’s good deed for an observant homeless man leads to a drug arrest.

It occurred last Thursday, according to the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office.

That office said a Rabun County Sheriff’s Office deputy noticed that a homeless man was in need of help and the deputy asked how he could help.

According to authorities, the homeless man told the deputy he was hungry, so the deputy bought the man two hamburgers.

Authorities said as the homeless man ate, he told the deputy that he believed an employee of a local fast food restaurant was selling drugs out of the back of the restaurant.

Rabun County authorities immediately acted on the homeless man’s comments and questioned a suspect, allegedly finding eight bags of methamphetamine packaged for distribution in the suspect’s car valued at $220.

The Rabun County Sheriff’s Office, Clayton Police Department, and Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office arrested 31-year-old Frank James Sheldon of Clayton for Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute.
