Rabun County Defeats Indians

The Stephens County Indians lost to the Rabun County Wildcats Friday night in Tiger, 24 to 10, in high school football action.  The Indians grabbed the early lead on a 2 yard touchdown run by Quarterback Jackson Bell with 3:12 left in the first quarter, but Rabun tied the game on a 4 yard touchdown run by Quarterback Bailey Fisher with 9:58 left in the second quarter.  Rabun County broke the tie with a 33 yard field goal by Andrew Barnes midway through the third quarter, but Stephens County would tie the game again on a 24 yard field goal by Luke Pearson with 11:58 left in the game.  Rabun would re-take the lead on a 25 yard run by Fisher with 9:39 left, then would finish out the scoring with Fisher’s third touchdown of the night, this one a 3 yard run.

Stephens County was led by Bell who had 112 yard rushing on 18 attempts and 12 of 19 passing for 49 yards.  AJ Howard rushed for 139 yards on 13 attempts.  Stephens County’s record falls to 1 and 1 while Rabun County improved to 1 and 0.  The Indians will have their home opener next Friday as they host Flowery Branch at the Reservation with kickoff at 7:30.
