Royston Celebrates Restaurant Week

This is Georgia Restaurant Week and one local community is marking the occasion by opening its restaurants to the public Thursday evening.
Sponsored by the Georgia Restaurant Association, Georgia Restaurant week aims to highlight the various dining options that are available to consumers throughout the State.
This week will allow patrons, both local and from out of state, to explore various dining options throughout Georgia for a set price and experience the local Georgia products that are available in Georgia’s restaurants.
In Franklin County, Royston’s Downtown Development Authority is hosting a special restaurant event Thursday evening.
Royston DDA Executive Director Candy Ross-Rhoades said all of the city’s eateries will be open late Thursday.
“This week is Georgia Restaurant week and the Royston Main Street DDA wanted to do something to help celebrate the week with our local restaurants,” said Ross-Rhoades. “On Thursday evening from 5:30-7, we’re having an event. We’ll have music by a deejay downtown during those hours. Our shops are planning to be open late to help attract additional customers and some of the restaurants that don’t open in the evening will be open for that event.”
Over the past several years Royston has had some new restaurants open, such as Tibbs on Railroad St.
Rhoades said they will be open Thursday along with others that have long been family favorites.
“They’re doing well, they’re located on Railroad Street,” said Ross-Rhoades. “It’s actually been two years now since the old Corner Hardware sandwich shop opened and they’re doing well. We have all of our restaurants, some have expanded throughout the city and some of our long time restaurants such as Blazer’s, the Drive In, the Roystonian, many of our other restaurants. We’re just proud that they’re here and we hope people in the area will come as well as our local citizens.”
Again, Thursday’s Royston Celebrates Restaurant Week event will be held from 5:30-7 p.m. downtown.
The public is invited.
