Royston Still Finalizing Transfer of Old Ty Cobb Building

The city of Royston is still in negotiations with the owners of the old Ty Cobb Hospital building to take over ownership of the facility.

Royston Mayor David Jordan said last week that the negotiations were still moving along and the lawyers from both sides were working out the details of the transaction.

According to Jordan, still no decision has been made as to what to do with the building, though several ideas have come up.

Jordan said the negotiations are on track and the transfer of ownership could come in the next few weeks.

The city of Royston agreed to take possession the old Ty Cobb Medical Center building last month after a called meeting of the Royston City Council.

The old Ty Cobb Medical Center building in Royston has been sitting basically empty since the new hospital building was built near Lavonia.
