School System Announces Summer Schedule

The Stephens County school system is moving to a summer schedule.

Again this year, the school system will have a number of four-day weeks.

School offices in Stephens County will be closed on the following dates:

Friday, May 27; Monday, May 30; Friday, June 10; Friday, June 17; Friday, June 24; Friday, July 1; Monday, July 4; Friday, July 15; and Friday, July 22.

Stephens County School Superintendent Bryan Dorsey said the four-day weeks are something the school system has been doing for several years.

He said it can serve several purposes.

“One, it offers us an opportunity to do some cost savings with energy, but it also gives us an opportunity, like on one of those Fridays, we will have technology upgrades going on so it just gives us a chance to get a few things squared away that we need,” said Dorsey.

The school system says it will resume its normal Monday through Friday schedule on Monday, July 25.
