SCHS Boys Open Hoops Season With Win Over Franklin; Girls Lose To Lions

Deundra Singleton scored 23 points to lead a balanced scoring attack as the Stephens County Indians opened the 2016-2017 basketball schedule with a 73-53 win over Franklin County Tuesday night at the Currahee Arena in Toccoa.

Singleton scored nine first quarter points as the Indians jumped out to a 17-9 lead and increased it to 36-23 at halftime.

Ty Nails added 13 points for the Indians.

Will South led Franklin County with 11 points.

In the girls’ contest, Franklin County used a trapping defense to force numerous turnovers and build a 23-6 lead after one quarter on the way to a 59-30 win over the Lady Indians.

Franklin County’s Mya Jones led all scorers with 16 points.

LiLi Walker scored nine points and Treasure Lone added seven points to lead the Lady Indians.

Stephens County’s girls are now 0-3 on the year.
