SCHS Competitive Cheerleading Wins Region 8-AAAA

The Stephens County High School Competition Cheerleading team is the region champion.

They won the Region 8-AAAA Championship on Saturday at Dawson County High School.

Stephens County High School cheerleaders competed against 7 other teams in the region including Buford, North Oconee, White, North Hall, Madison, Monroe Area, and Johnson.

This is the first ever region title in school history for Competitive Cheerleading.

The win advances the team directly to the State Finals on Saturday at the Civic Center in Columbus, where the top 16 teams in the State in AAAA will compete for the State Championship.

Stephens County High School is looking to keep building off of last year, when it placed second in the region and 8th in the state which was a school best.

The Competition Cheerleaders are coached by Cathy Thornton and Becky Jameson.
