SCHS Kicker Raising Money for Childhood Cancer Research

Stephens County High School football team kicker Luke Pearson is doing his part to help kick out childhood cancer.

Pearson is raising money this football season that will go towards the fight against childhood cancer.

“For every point I make or for every field goal I make, (money) goes to childhood research for cancer and you can also make pledges and donations,” said Pearson.

According to Pearson, people can either make a one-time donation to his effort or they can donate a certain amount of money for every point he scores this football season for the Indians by kicking either an extra point or a field goal.

He said that a young boy his family knows has inspired him to participate in this effort this year.

“His name is Riley Johnson,” said Pearson. “He is from Hall County, Georgia and he is five years old and he has been diagnosed with leukemia and right now, he is going through chemotherapy and he is really sick right now.”

Pearson went on to say that he has set a strong goal to strive for by the end of the football season.

“I want to raise $5,000 by the end of my season,” said Pearson.
