SCHS Soccer Hosting Community Games to Benefit Charities

The soccer teams at Stephens County High School have two special games coming up later this season that will allow them to give back to the community.

Stephens County High School Boys’ Soccer Coach Derek Demmler said that the Indian and Lady Indian soccer teams will team up for two community game doubleheaders to benefit two different organizations.

Demmler said the first game on March 15 at the Reservation against East Hall will benefit the Wounded Warrior project with proceeds benefiting the Wounded Warrior organization.

“That game, we are wearing a special jersey and if you are involved with the Recreation Department, children in a Rec Department jersey get in free with a paying adult,” said Demmler.

Demmler said the second community game will be on April 8 against Hart County when the Indian and Lady Indian soccer teams play their annual “Pink Game.”

“We will be wearing pink jerseys,” said Demmler. “Money from that game will go to the Relay for Life program in Stephens County.”

Again on April 8, a child in a Recreation Department soccer jersey will get in free with a paying adult.

Demmler said the teams are excited to be able to give back while playing soccer.

“To be able to give back either way, it is a really nice thing for us to be able to do,” said Demmler. “The kids are excited.”

Admission each night is $5.

On both nights, the Lady Indian soccer team will play at 5 p.m. and the Indian boys’ soccer team will play at 7 p.m.
