SCHS Softball Keeps On Winning

Stephens County High School softball sweeps a pair of non-region games over the weekend.

Saturday, the Lady Indians won both of their games in the Oconee Veterans Park tournament in Oconee County.

In the first game, the Lady Indians beat Tattnall Square Academy, 5-2.

Offensively, Stephens County was led by Brynn Roberts, Peyton Terrell, and Alana Dunson, who all went 2 for 3 at the plate.

Emma Whitfield added a single and two RBIs and Karly Smith had a single and an RBI.

In the circle, Whitfield scattered two runs and five hits, while striking out 13.

Moving to the second game, the Lady Indians beat Elbert County, 3-0.

Against Elbert, Raina Mayfield led the Lady Indians with two doubles and an RBI. Ashton Ayers was also 2 for 3 with an RBI.

Whitfield pitched a shutout in the circle, allowing six hits and striking out 10.

These two wins push the Lady Indians’ record to 16-1 overall.

They are also 7-1 in the region as they head back into region play on Tuesday at home against Jefferson.
