SCHS Sweeps Monroe Area in Basketball

The Stephens County High School basketball teams pick up a doubleheader sweep at home in Region 8-AAAA play.

On Friday at the Currahee Arena, the Stephens County Lady Indians beat Monroe Area, 39-26, in the varsity girls’ game.

Kentasia Trimier led the Lady Indians with 11 points.

Stephens County’s girls are now 6-12 overall on the season and 1-1 in region play.

Then in the boys’ game, Stephens County got 25 points from Deundra Singleton in a close 74-72 win over the Monroe Area Purple Hurricanes.

Nunu Walker chipped in with 14 points as the Stephens County boys moved to 14-4 overall on the season and 2-0 in region play.

Both the Indians and the Lady Indians are back in action on Tuesday at home against Madison County in another region game.
