SCHS Wrestling Opens Season

Wrestling season is underway at Stephens County High School.

The Indian wrestlers held their first two dual meet matches of the year on Tuesday.

Stephens County lost both matches, falling to White County, 48-30, and then losing to Banks County, 60-18.

Jake Murray, Jay Stowe, and Tracey Lowery all won both of their matches on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Lee Massey and Walker Herron also picked up one match win against White County.

Stephens County High School Wrestling Head Coach Rob Stowe said the Indians are very young this year after graduating five senior starters and replacing them basically with freshmen.

Also, Stowe said the Indians were down three starters due to injury.

He said he was very pleased with the Indians’ efforts and will get better as soon as they gain experience and get starters back from injury.

In addition, Stowe noted that the JV Indian and Middle School wrestling teams defeated Banks and White.
