SCSO Arrests Two For Drugs After Traffic Stop

Two people from Lavonia face drug charges after a traffic stop in Stephens County.

The Stephens County Sheriff’s Office arrested 35-year-old Rachael Ann Lynch and 37-year-old John Johnson, both of Ridgeview Drive in Lavonia on January 22.

Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley said that on January 22, his traffic unit stopped a 1999 silver Lexus sedan after deputies observed the Lexus travel through an intersection without stopping on Wolf Pit Road.

He added that a stop sign is clearly and visibly positioned at that particular intersection.

The sheriff said that during the traffic stop, deputies ran the driver’s information by name and date of birth because the driver, Lynch, told deputies she did not have a license with her.

According to Sheriff Shirley, dispatch advised deputies that Lynch’s license was suspended for prior violations and that the tag displayed on the Lexus did not belong to that vehicle.

Shirley said deputies arrested Lynch at that time and searched the vehicle.

He said during the search, about six grams of suspected methamphetamine was located in the passenger compartment of the vehicle.

Both are charged with Possession of Methamphetamine. Meanwhile, Lynch is also charged with Improper Transferred Plates, Driving While License Suspended, No Insurance, and a Stop Sign Violation.
