This year’s Stephens County Sheriff’s Office Deputy of the Year is Deputy Paul Shiffer.

Deputy Shiffer has been with the Sheriff’s Office sine 1997 and is currently responsible primarily for serving civil paperwork.

However, Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley said that Shiffer also lends a helping hand to every other division within the Sheriff’s Office on an almost daily basis.

Shirley called Shiffer an exceptional employee with a model work ethic.

Meanwhile, this year’s Stephens County Sheriff’s Office Jailer of the Year is Sergeant Walter Richie.

Sergeant Richie has been with the Sheriff’s Office for almost five years and has moved through the ranks from jailer to his current position as a shift supervisor.

Shirley called Richie a model employee who can be described as compassionate, dedicated, and dependable.

The sheriff said these two individuals are selected by a vote of their peers and co-workers.

Shirley said being chosen for one of these awards is one of the highest honors that can be given at the Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff said he would like to publicly congratulate both of these men for receiving these awards and thanks them for their hard work and dedication.

He also thanked all of the Sheriff’s Office employees for another successful year.
