Sprint Cars Visiting Lavonia Tonight

Lavonia Speedway is hosting a busy night of racing tonight.

Tonight, the United Sprint Car Series stops at Lavonia Speedway as part of its “Salute to American Labor.”

USCS Founder and President Pete Walton said tonight’s race kicks off a three-race Labor Day weekend for the series.

He said it should be an exciting night of sprint car racing.

“If people maybe are not familiar with our cars and they have not been out to one of our events, sprint cars are the fastest cars that come to any of the tracks that are dirt ovals,” said Walton. “Especially at Lavonia Speedway, they reach speeds close to 130 miles per hour down the straight-aways. We have a lot of great drivers that have been there a number of times.”

Weather permitting, racing starts at 7:30 p.m. and along with the United Sprint Car Series sprint cars and mini-sprints, all normal racing divisions at Lavonia Speedway will take the track for their final points race of the year.

Walton said tonight is also a Special Olympics fundraiser night.

Admission is $20 for adults, $5 for children ages 7 to 11, and for children age 6 and under, admission is free.
