State Announces Delay In Some TANF Cards

State officials said that delivery of debit cards for more than 4,000 recipients of child support and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families has been delayed by a contractor.

The cards, called Georgia EPPICard, provide access to child support payments and funds to TANF recipients.

Also, a small number of Department employees also use the cards to receive bi-weekly pay.

The delayed card delivery affects clients of the Department who requested a new or replacement card between August 19 and September 17.

According to officials, all cards requested during that time period should be delivered by this Wednesday, September 23.

The Department of Human Services said it contracts with Xerox for production and delivery of the Georgia EPPICard. Crittenden has requested a root-cause analysis of the backlog and is monitoring the vendor’s corrective strategies.

Officials said they are disappointed this error affected so many parents trying to support their families, but add they are committed to ensuring this problem is corrected immediately and there is a plan in place to keep it from happening again.

Clients with questions about the status of their card requests should call the Xerox customer service line at 1-800-656-1347.
