Stephens Co. Commission Extends E-911 Maintenance Agreement

Stephens County Commissioners vote to extend a maintenance services agreement for the county’s E-911 department equipment.

In a called meeting Tuesday, county commissioners approved a 12-month extension of the current agreement with Motorola.

At its regular business meeting last week, the commission had passed an extension of the same agreement to last for one quarter of the year.

However, Stephens County Administrator Phyllis Ayers said that one of the vendors in the contract with Motorola would not renew for three months.

County commissioners approved the 12-month extension by a 3-1 vote.

Commissioner Stanley London voted against the motion and Commissioner Dennis Bell was not at the meeting.

London said he has not been in favor of Motorola since that company became involved with the county’s emergency communications.
