Stephens Co. Commissioner Debbie Whitlock Cited

Stephens County Commissioner Debbie Whitlock was cited by Toccoa Police Tuesday morning for Misdemeanor Obstruction Of an Officer after an alleged incident at her Toccoa residence Tuesday.

Whitlock was booked and released on her own recognizance, according to the Toccoa Police Department.

Toccoa Police said they responded to a reported motor vehicle accident Tuesday morning at Whitlock’s residence.

Police said that in relation to the investigation of that reported accident, neighbors stated that Whitlock’s son, who police said has legal issues and was not to be at the residence, was present at the scene.

According to police, they asked Whitlock if her son was present in order to talk to him about the accident and she said he was not.

However, police said further investigation showed that Whitlock’s son was at the residence, contrary to what Whitlock said to authorities, at which time she was cited.

Police said a full report was not complete on the incident as of Tuesday afternoon.

The case will go to Toccoa Municipal Court.

Whitlock’s attorney, Timothy Healy, told WNEG it was “a lot about nothing” but had no further comment.
