Stephens Co. Hospital Authority Re-Appoints Three

The Stephens County Hospital Authority will remain unchanged as three members are elected to new terms.

On Monday, the Hospital Authority voted to re-appoint Paula Dickerson, Jon West, and George Sanders to the Stephens County Hospital Authority for new terms.

Stephens County Hospital Administrator Ed Gambrell said state law calls on the Authority to select its members from those put forward by county commissioners.

“State law says that whenever a Hospital Authority has a vacancy or a term expires, the county commission submits three names for each of the vacant positions,” said Gambrell.

Earlier this month, Stephens County Commissioners voted to put Dickerson, Sanders, and West up for re-appointment, along with six other names.

Those were Clay Fisher, Gary LeCroy, Lynn Cox, Brian Akin, Tim Ash, and Jarvis Swilling.

Gambrell said the Hospital Authority had a tremendous pool of candidates to choose from.

“All the nominees were well-qualified, good people,” said Gambrell.  “Any of them could have been good Authority members.”

Those thoughts were echoed by Hospital Authority Chair Mark Wilkinson.

Gambrell said that the Authority will elect officers for the year ahead at its next meeting in October.
