Stephens Co. Marks MLK Day Today

Events conclude today for the 25th anniversary celebration of the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in Stephens County.

Today at noon is the interfaith service at Trinity C.M.E. Church in Toccoa.

Following the service at 2 p.m. today, the annual march will leave Trinity C.M.E. Church and make its way to Toccoa City Hall.

Today’s events conclude two weekends of activities honoring Dr. King in Stephens County.

Those other events include a Senior Reflections event, a musical extravaganza, an art contest, a talent and fashion show, and an oratorical contest.

Meanwhile, Stephens County government offices and Toccoa City Hall will both be closed on Monday in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

In the city of Toccoa, routes for garbage and recyclables scheduled to be picked up on today will be picked up on Tuesday, January 19th.

Commercial garbage will be picked up as usual, but yard waste and other items will not be picked up.

Also, the Links Golf Course will operate as usual. The normal operating hours are 8:00 a.m. until sunset.
