Stephens Co. Middle School Football Team Preparing for Season

Just like the Stephens County High School football team, the Middle School Rebels are getting ready for their season as well.  The Rebels had a pre-season scrimmage against Rabun County on August 10.
The Rebels will start their season on Thursday, August 31, at 4:30, at The Reservation as they host Clarke Central.
Originally that game was scheduled for Saturday, September 2nd, but Stephens County Middle School Football Coach Matt Miller said it was moved to Thursday the 31 due to the Labor Day Weekend.
Now fans can pay one admission price and see both the Rebels play Clarke Central followed by the Indian J-V team play White County.
“We want to encourage the whole community to come out and watch the middle school play that day,” said Miller. “We have a bonus afterwards will be the JV game. If you come out to that game on August 31 and you want to watch the Rebels and the Stephens County JV team play, you would pay one admission price so it’s a good opportunity to see the young guys playing at the middle school and the young guys playing at the high school.”
The Middle School Rebels football schedule again includes their traditional rivals.
“We play a tough schedule,” said Miller. “We play the traditional rivalries that everybody likes to play- Hart, Franklin, Elbert and Madison. That’s the good thing about our conference, it hasn’t changed, it’s all the people around us. With the addition of Clarke Central and Cedar Shoals, things haven’t changed pretty much for our scheduling in our conference for many years.”

The top four teams in the conference will play for a conference championship after the regular season ends.
