Stephens Co. Road Crew Commended for Efforts

Stephens County Administrator Phyllis Ayers is commending the county’s road crew for its work over recent weeks.

Ayers spoke about the job that the entire Public Works Department has done at Tuesday’s Stephens County Board of Commissioners meeting.

She said that even though the county is without a Public Works Director, the road crew continues to do its best to keep up with the work orders it has throughout the county.

“Since May 14, they have completed 81 work orders,” said Ayers. “They are out there working very hard to get them (work orders) down to zero. That does not include the mowing, that is just the scraping, and patching, and ditch work.”

Stephens County Commission Chairman Dennis Bell also commended the road crew for its efforts.

Meanwhile, Ayers said that the search is ongoing for a new Public Works Director.

The county has been without a Public Works Director since last month when Tim Mitchem resigned from the position.

No timeline has been given yet for filling that Public Works Director’s spot.
