Stephens Co. Sheriff’s Office and GSP Aviation Team Stop Marijuana Grow

The Stephens County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia State Patrol Aviation team recently located a marijuana grow site, leading to two drug arrests.

According to Sheriff Randy Shirley, investigators were given an anonymous tip that Roger Wilbanks was growing marijuana on his property at 54 Twisted Tree Drive.

The GSP Aviation Unit team was called in to assist in searching the area and shortly after the search began, the aviation unit advised the ground team that they had spotted several suspected marijuana plants in a wooded area near the residence.

After Investigators secured the area they located a total of 11 plants, some reaching around 8 feet tall. Investigators then obtained a search warrant for the residence and the rest of the property. During the execution of the warrant, Investigators located a quantity of methamphetamine in addition to more marijuana and marijuana seeds inside the residence.

Sheriff Shirley said that two subjects were arrested at the scene, including Roger Wilbanks, 52 of Toccoa and Amber Halsup, 35 of Toccoa.

Both were charged with manufacturing Marijuana, possession of Marijuana over an ounce and possession of Methamphetamine.

Both individuals are currently being held at the Stephens County Detention Center.
